Joy – Community – Action

Take Action

A passion for making a difference

We collaborate, organize, and make an impact on our local community with the following initiatives:

Support Federal Worker Rallies

Women that Wine supporting our federal workers on 5.20.25 at the Gainesville Commuter Lot, handing out over 100 resources bags and spreading lots of joy and appreciation.

Women that Wine regularly host Support Federal Worker Rallies at our local VRE train stations and OmniRide commuter lots. We bring signs, smiles and a bag filled with resources, a personalized thank you note, water, and a snack for our federal workers. We spread joy and show appreciation to those in our community who need it most!

Get Out the Vote

Women that Wine members gathered at a local restaurant to write over 200 postcards to Virginians expressing the importance of the 2025 November elections on 4.13.25.

Women that Wine works to get out the vote in Virginia. We host postcard writing parties, phonebank together, and canvas in our local communities. We also collaborate with other Red, Wine and Blue groups to learn about best practices when it comes to canvassing through participating in events like “Hear Me Out! Effective Conversations in a Polarized World.” Our goal is to increase voter turnout for the upcoming November, 2025 election.

Support PWCS

Women that Wine member and allies in the BRUU choir sung songs about diversity and inclusion at the 4.23.25 PWCS school board meeting.

Women that Wine supports public education by attending the PWCS school board meetings together to show support for the diverse, inclusive, and equitable policies and programs our district implements and stands by during a time when public education is under attack. We speak during citizen comment time to express gratitude for our district leaders who have remain dedicated to supporting all students, staff and community members.

Protect Immigration Rights

Women that Wine members alongside other grassroots organization members rallied at the PWC Adult Detention Center, urging board members to reject 287g, a policy rooted in racial profiling, fear-mongering, and the criminalization of immigrant communities on 5.21.25.

Women that Wine priorities protecting our members and neighbors who may be impacted by the increased threats of immigration enforcement in several ways. We attend rallies that support protective policies and reject fear-mongering policies. We advocate for protective policies and sharing important resources to all families in our PWCS schools. We collaborate with other grassroots organizations to determine how we can best support their work to ensure our neighbors are safe and informed.

PWC Hunger Free

Women that Wine members and community members packed 100 bags of vegetables for distribution at Creating Foundations of Hope on 5.23.25.

Women that Wine combats food insecurity by volunteering together at local food pantries to sort, record and prepare food for distribution. We support ACTS in East County, Creating Foundations of Hope in Mid-County and Haymarket Food Pantry in West County. Our Summer 2025 goal is to volunteer a total of 100 hours at our local pantries!
